Three Teens Injured in Shooting at Florida Prom After-Party; Authorities Seek Public’s Help

In the early hours of Sunday, May 4, 2025, a prom after-party in Davenport, Florida, turned violent when gunfire erupted, injuring three high school students. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is actively investigating the incident and appealing to the public for information.

Incident Overview

The series of events began around 3:30 a.m. at the Azur Resort on Famagusta Drive. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a large gathering, estimated to have over 100 attendees. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the scene in chaos, with many individuals fleeing on foot or by vehicle. Three teenagers, all students at Osceola High School, were injured during the incident. A 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male sustained graze wounds from bullets, while another 17-year-old male suffered an eye injury from debris. Fortunately, all injuries were non-life-threatening.

Prior Disturbance

Earlier that night, deputies had been called to a Wawa convenience store on Osceola Polk Line Road due to reports of a large, unruly crowd causing disturbances and stealing items. By the time authorities arrived, the crowd had dispersed. Investigators believe that the individuals involved in the Wawa incident were the same attendees of the subsequent after-party where the shooting occurred.

Ongoing Investigation

Sheriff Grady Judd emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “Three teenagers were shot, and three teenagers, three children should not have been shot, but they were.” He noted that the victims were not the intended targets of the shooting. The PCSO is currently seeking information from the public to identify those responsible. Anyone with details about the incident is urged to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this unfortunate incident. Community cooperation is vital in ensuring that those responsible are held accountable and to prevent such occurrences in the future.
